About Us
In response to the COVID -19 pandemic, the Department of Trade and Industry – Bureau of Market Development, Promotions and OTOP (DTI-BMDPO) had to innovate to continue with its mandate to market the products of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Physical trade fairs had to be transitioned to either virtual fairs or digital malls or shops. With the closure of most brick and mortar stores like malls and duty-free shops, even the Go Lokal! store project had to speed up the shift to e-commerce platforms. As such, the bureau assisted the MSMEs pivot to online selling by onboarding them to various e-commerce platforms thus helping them sustain their business operations and respond to the change in consumersβ buying behavior and the strict lockdowns.
Since the pandemic started in 2020, the BMDPO had launched nine (9) permanent malls/shops in partnership with Lazada, Shopee, Shopinas and UnionBank Globallinker.
